Daily Care:
Pearls are meant to be worn but do require special care. Pearls are organic gemstones that are vulnerable to acid, alkaline, and extreme humidity. Make sure that your pearl jewelry is the last thing you put on when getting dressed - after all cosmetics, perfumes, hairspray, etc. to avoid damage from the chemicals. Also avoid exposure to hydrogen peroxide, chemical bleaches and other dyes.
Avoid swimming and showering while wearing your pearls. Remove your pearl ring before washing your hands or doing the dishes as well.
Storage:
After wearing your pearls, it is good to wipe them down with a soft cloth. This helps remove any residues like sweat, oil or other chemicals they may have picked up from the day.
Pearls require moisture to retain their beauty and structural integrity, so avoid airtight environments which are deadly to pearls.
Pearls are exceptionally cohesive but may be scratched by contact with sharp objects or other gemstones. When carrying jewelry, use a protective jewelry pouch. Pearl rings are only to be worn for special occasions and are not intended for everyday wear. If you wish to wear your Tracey Mayer pearl ring everyday do understand that the pearl and its setting may be compromised.
